Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Community Respiratory OT service on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. The role includes clinical supervision, peer support and CPD opportunities, with a mix of hospital, ward, virtual ward and patient home-based work across Gateshead.

Autonomous practitioner with complex cases requiring independent decision making.
Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
Commitment to rehabilitation and ability to work with diverse patient groups.

Responsibilities

Act as an autonomous practitioner delivering specialised OT assessments and treatment plans for complex patients.
Independently manage a caseload using evidence-based and holistic approaches.
Work as a key MDT member to coordinate care and ensure smooth discharge.
Deliver care across multiple settings (community, wards, virtual wards, home visits, group sessions).
Support and supervise qualified and unqualified staff within the department.
Contribute to service development and learning culture within the team.
