Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior/principal ecologist with a special interest in ornithology to join our award-winning ecology team in the UK. You will lead ornithological surveys, deliver high-quality technical advice, and collaborate with hydrologists, engineers and project managers to integrate ecology across projects.

Qualifications

• Background in terrestrial ecology with experience in technical reporting and impact assessment aligned to national legislation.
• Good bird identification skills and understanding of bird ecology and survey techniques.
• Experience scoping and executing field surveys and data analysis.
• Full membership of a professional body (or ability to obtain membership); chartership welcomed.
• Inquisitiveness, willingness to learn and high personal responsibility.
• Ability to write clear, concise reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead ornithological surveys and provide expert advice to clients (internal and external).
• Work in multidisciplinary teams to ensure ornithological requirements are recognised and acted upon.
• Support Environmental Impact Assessments and Habitats Regulations Appraisals as needed.
• Occasionally undertake desk-based tasks and site visits across the UK, with some overnight stays.
