Job summary

Dudley Council is seeking an experienced and capable operational leader to join our Corporate Business Operations & Support function at an important point in the Council’s improvement journey. This is a key management role responsible for turning strategic direction into effective day-to-day delivery, overseeing executive and senior leadership support, governance activity and wider business operations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading or managing business operations or corporate support.
• Proven track record handling high-profile, time-critical environments.
• Experience developing teams and balancing workloads for resilience.
• Strong knowledge of governance, information management and processes.
• Experience working with senior leaders and elected members.
• Understanding of statutory information requirements and assurance.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the lead of the Business Operations & Corporate Support function, ensuring continuity.
• Coordinate executive and senior leadership support, managing meetings, papers and actions.
• Oversee member and mayoral support ensuring professional, confidential and impartial service.
• Manage statutory information activity (FOI, EIR, Subject Access requests) with compliant timescales.
• Coordinate governance activities, forward plans, logs, risk registers and records management.
• Allocate resources flexibly across teams to meet changing priorities and service pressures.
• Monitor performance data and provide insights to support planning and decision-making.
