Job summary

SSE plc in Central/Southern Scotland is seeking an Operational Electrical Engineer within our Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering team. You will support asset integrity, perform maintenance, fault response, refurbishment, and commissioning on high‑voltage assets up to 275kV.

The role involves outage planning, project and contractor management, budgeting input, and collaboration across Operations Maintenance and project teams, with travel across the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in HV operations.
• Experience delivering projects and managing contractors.
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Provide operation safety from system level up to 275kV, incl. maintenance, fault response and commissioning activities.
• Lead outage planning, monitor plant health and assess safety and reliability.
• Manage projects and asset improvements, supporting new wind/solar/battery builds.
• Oversee contractors, including scope, safety and performance monitoring.
• Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance and assist budget submissions.
