Job summary

SSE plc seeks an Operational Electrical Engineer for its Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering team in the UK. You’ll support asset integrity and sustained operation of high-voltage assets, lead outages, and drive improvements across wind, solar and BESS sites.

You will coordinate contractors, manage projects, and provide technical support to operations. A full driving licence and willingness to travel UK-wide are essential; salary includes a vehicle and performance bonus with a

Qualifications

Minimum HNC level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Operasional SAP competence or ability to achieve it, with knowledge of HV equipment and control systems.
Proven track record in delivering projects and managing contractors.
Knowledge of Wind, Solar or Battery tech is a plus.
Full driving licence and ability to travel UK/Ireland regularly.

Responsibilities

Provide operational safety from system up to 275kV, maintenance, fault response and commissioning.
Lead outage planning and delivery, monitor plant health and performance, review reports and maintenance strategies.
Manage projects, asset improvements and design enhancements for Wind, Solar and Battery projects.
Manage contractors and service providers, including scope, planning and safety monitoring.
Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance, contribute to budgets and represent the business in engagements.
