Zusammenfassung

SSE plc is seeking an Operational Electrical Engineer for its Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering team in the UK. You will help ensure asset integrity and sustained operation of electrical assets on wind, solar and BESS sites, providing technical support to Operations Maintenance and project teams.

The role requires an HV background, SAP competence, and experience managing projects and contractors, with willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK and Ireland.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in an operational, maintenance or construction environment, preferably within an HV environment.
• Operational SAP experience or ability to achieve sufficient competence with good working knowledge of electrical equipment and systems (protection systems, HV switchgear, electrical generating plant, HV/LV transformers, control systems).
• Experience in managing projects and contractors with a proven track record of delivery.
• Knowledge in Wind, Solar or Battery technology preferable but not essential.
• Full driving license and ability to travel regularly throughout the UK and Ireland.

• Provide operational safety from the system up to and including 275kV, undertaking maintenance, fault response and investigation, refurbishment, commissioning activities and responding to critical plant issues and defects that impact asset availability and safety.
• Lead outage planning and delivery, monitor plant health and performance, conduct technical and safety investigations, review technical reports, and recommend future maintenance strategies to maximise reliability, safety and asset availability.
• Manage engineering projects, asset improvement initiatives and design enhancements, providing direct project management delivery while supporting the development and operation of new build Wind, Solar and Battery projects.
• Manage contractors and engineering service providers, including scope and specification development, technical evaluations, planning, setting to work and ongoing monitoring of safety, environmental performance, quality and delivery.
• Provide planned and unplanned technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams, contribute to budget preparation and submissions, and represent the business in formal technical engagements, presentations and stakeholder discussions.

The role

We currently have an opportunity for an Operational Electrical Engineer in our Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering team within the UK. As a member of the wider Maintenance Engineering team, you will be part of a team responsible for the asset integrity and sustained operation of electrical assets on our Wind, Solar & BESS operational sites, providing technical support to the Operations Maintenance and project teams. This is unique opportunity to join a small team punching well above its weight in service delivery and business impact.

You will

You have

• Minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience in an operational, maintenance or construction environment, preferably within an HV environment.
• You will already be an operational SAP or be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve sufficient competence with good working knowledge of electrical equipment and systems (protection systems, HV switchgear, electrical generating plant, HV / LV transformers, control systems).
• Be able to demonstrate experience in managing projects and contractors and have a proven track record of delivery, both personally and through others.
• Knowledge in either Wind, Solar or Battery technology is preferable but not essential.
• Due to the remote nature of some of our sites and the flexible requirements of the role, a full driving license is essential along with the ability to travel regularly throughout the UK and Ireland for collaboration with the wider team.

The position will frequently involve working in remote areas, occasionally working at height - for which training will be given. You will also be required to represent the Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery team in more formal situations and presentation skills are essential. SAP training and technical training (i.e. protection systems) will be provided.
