Job summary

AECOM UK is seeking a Principal OHL Engineer to lead overhead line design projects up to 400 kV within the Transmission & Distribution team. You will work with clients to deliver technically challenging projects, including design, feasibility studies and regulatory compliance.

You will provide technical support, manage deliverables, and ensure quality across feasibility studies, proposals and site-based activities while operating in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• CEng Chartered Engineer status with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g. IET).
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent (electrical/power).
• Experience delivering transmission projects for TSOs and OHL up to 400 kV.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities for overhead line projects up to 400 kV, including PLS-CADD modelling and sag‑tension calculations.
• Support feasibility studies, client proposals, timelines, resources, budgets and goals.
• Provide technical input during project implementation, planning and public consultations.
• Produce and check engineering deliverables, drawings and calculations, with internal QA.
• Engage with clients and manage design assumptions, clearances and compliance.
