Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited seeks a Senior Power System Studies Engineer to lead offshore wind and grid studies from our UK offices, including Birmingham. You will perform steady state and dynamic power flow analyses, fault ride through, protection, and reporting for clients while mentoring junior staff and delivering training.

Applicants should have an MSc/BE in electrical engineering, Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, 4+ years in offshore wind studies, and proficiency in PSCAD,

Qualifications

• Masters / bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with relevant industrial experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or membership in an accredited scheme.
• Comprehensive experience in offshore wind studies at Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design stages (4+ years).

Responsibilities

• Grid Code compliance (UK Grid code/EREC).
• Load Flow and Voltage regulation study.
• Short Circuit study.
• Protection study.
• Harmonics study.
• RMS Dynamic Stability (PowerFactory and PSS/E) – FRT – Dynamic Voltage support.
• Switching Transients and Insulation Coordination.
• Transient Fast Converter Dynamics and Control Interactions.
• Special System Transient Events – FRT – Black Start and Energization.
• Analyse study results and discuss with clients.
• Prepare study reports and technical documentation.
• Respond to RFPs by preparing proposals and man-hours estimation.
• Mentor junior staff and deliver training on subject matter.
• Lead consulting, research and development study projects.
• Conceptualization, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
