Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear is seeking a Senior Control and Instrumentation Engineer to lead the design, integration and delivery of high-integrity C&I systems for nuclear and highly regulated projects. Office options include Grimsby or Hessle with hybrid working patterns.

The role demands extensive experience in C&I design, safety standards and lifecycle delivery, with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, engineering and delivering control and instrumentation systems within nuclear, defence, energy, process or other highly regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of functional safety, nuclear safety requirements and industry standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511 or equivalent.
• Experience working with PLCs, SCADA systems, Distributed Control Systems and field instrumentation technologies.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and manage relationships with clients, suppliers and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and integrating control and instrumentation systems for complex nuclear and highly regulated projects.
• Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety requirements, technical standards, quality procedures and regulatory expectations.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative technical solutions and resolve engineering challenges.
• Supporting testing, verification, commissioning and handover activities to deliver reliable operational performance.
• Engaging with clients, regulators, suppliers and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are delivered successfully.
