Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear is seeking a Principal Control and Instrumentation Engineer to provide technical leadership on complex safety-critical projects across defence, clean energy and critical infrastructure. The role is based in Grimsby/Hull with hybrid working patterns and travel to sites as required.

You will lead design, installation and verification of C&I systems, coordinate cross-disciplinary teams and ensure compliance with IEC standards and nuclear safety requirements, driving safe, reliable

Qualifications

• Experience leading design and delivery of control and instrumentation systems in highly regulated environments.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex interfaces.
• Strong understanding of functional safety and relevant industry standards (IEC 61508/61511).
• Experience from concept through commissioning, operation and decommissioning of projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, integration and assurance of C&I systems across complex projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration with mechanical, electrical and safety requirements.
• Act as technical authority for deliverables, ensuring regulatory and nuclear safety compliance.
• Direct testing, commissioning and system acceptance activities for safe and reliable operation.
• Engage with clients, regulators and suppliers to provide technical leadership and support project delivery.
