Job summary

FMCG Executive Network Ltd is recruiting a Senior NPD Technologist for a busy bakery-focused manufacturing site. You will lead NPD projects from concept to launch, develop bakery products to trend briefs, plan trials, scale-ups and launches, and maintain product specs and documentation.

You will collaborate with technical, production, procurement and commercial teams to ensure quality, cost, and manufacturability.

Senior NPD Technologist

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior NPD Technologist to join their manufacturing site. As Senior NPD Technologist, you will play a key role in delivering exciting new products from concept through to launch. Working closely with customers, production, technical, procurement, and commercial teams, you will manage the development process, ensuring products meet quality, cost, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities as Senior NPD Technologist

• Lead customer and internally driven NPD projects from concept through to successful launch.
• Develop innovative bakery products in line with market trends, customer briefs, and business objectives.
• Plan and conduct factory trials, scale-ups, and product launches.
• Create and maintain product specifications and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with technical and operations teams to ensure products are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
• Liaise with suppliers to source ingredients and packaging solutions.
• Support customer presentations, product submissions, and benchmarking activities.
• Ensure all products comply with food safety, legal, and retailer requirements.
• Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for product innovation and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support junior members of the NPD team where required.

Requirements as Senior NPD Technologist

• Previous experience within an NPD Technologist or Senior NPD Technologist role in the food manufacturing sector.
• Bakery experience is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of delivering successful product launches.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, food safety, and retailer requirements.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Creative, commercially aware, and passionate about food innovation.
• Food Science, Food Technology, or related qualification preferred.
