Job Title: Senior NPD Technologist

A leading Food Manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Senior NPD Technologist. Your role will involve working cross-functionally to manage the NPD process, delivering EPD and NPD that exceed expectations for both internal (Brand) and external customers. You will liaise with customers to take products from concept to launch, ensuring compliance with internal QMS, customer procedures, policies, and our Innovation process/stage gate.

Senior NPD Technologist responsibilities include:

1. Managing key customer accounts alongside the dedicated commercial team.
2. Supporting the team by staying informed of market trends, consumer insights, and competitor activities, with a strong commercial awareness.
3. Developing concepts for EPD and NPD projects, supporting the NPD Manager.
4. Stepping in for the NPD Manager when required.
5. Nurturing strong customer relationships, understanding end-user needs, and proactively delivering NPD/EPD to meet customer requirements, including visiting and presenting to customers as needed.
6. Collaborating with strategic suppliers to support NPD projects and acting as a knowledge resource.
7. Following product development procedures and maintaining compliance with BRC and customer-specific policies, working closely with Food Safety and Quality colleagues on allergens and HACCP.
8. Providing troubleshooting support to Operations and assisting with cost engineering projects.

You should ideally hold a degree in Food Science or an equivalent subject, with over 3 years of experience in a Development role within a Food manufacturing environment.

You will need a good understanding of the product development cycle, including internal QMS procedures, experience with Top 4 retailer NPD systems/processes, and knowledge of Food Labelling, Product Specifications, Nutritional Information, Legislation related to food/materials, and some understanding of packaging. Demonstrating project management skills across multidisciplinary teams, including risk analysis/mitigation and coordinating to meet critical deadlines, is essential.
