Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Network Operations Engineer to work as part of an onsite team providing network infrastructure support, implementation, and management for a key customer. The role involves diverse responsibilities, from patching LAN connectivity for new customer equipment to documenting and implementing complex new network solutions.

The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a wider team.

This role may require out-of-hours cover as part of a rota.

The tasks include (but are not limited to):

• Network installations and support
• Troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues on various equipment
• Deploying new logical networks via Change Control
• Onboarding new customers to new solutions
• Being a first responder for customer logged vaults
• Configuring and deploying network equipment
• Adhering to policies around security and data protection
• Meeting SLA requirements and customer satisfaction targets
• Creating and maintaining updates within the ticket system
• Following escalation processes and communicating issues appropriately
• Collaborating with HPE TAC teams to resolve issues

Required skills and attributes

• Proven networking experience of at least 5 years
• Exceptional customer service skills, including simplifying technical details
• Highly organized, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Confident, collaborative, and able to interface with all levels
• Proactive with work activities and supporting colleagues
• Ability to recognize and react with urgency and ownership
• Strong understanding of systems and network hardware, firmware, and software across multiple platforms
• Knowledge of network equipment from various vendors
• Strong understanding of LAN and Wireless networking
• Ability to obtain necessary security clearances for high-level UK government access

Desirable Skills

• Aruba LAN (CX, AOS, HPE Comware)
• Aruba Wireless
• Experience with NG Firewall equipment (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco)
• ITIL Service Management Foundation
• Experience in IT incident management
• Using cable test equipment like Fluke
