Job summary

Mondrian Alpha is seeking a senior network and infrastructure engineer to own and evolve the core infrastructure estate in London. You will work in the in-house technology team, shaping standards and driving delivery across networks, virtualised environments and cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in network and infrastructure engineering with Cisco and Fortinet expertise, hands-on VMware, Kubernetes and AWS, and automation with Terraform and Ansible.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in network and infrastructure engineering.
• Strong hands-on Cisco networking and Fortinet security knowledge.
• Experience with VMware, Kubernetes and AWS in production environments.
• Familiar with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Experience overseeing MSP relationships is advantageous.

Job description

My client, a boutique hedge fund, is seeking a senior network and infrastructure engineer to own and evolve the core infrastructure estate in London.

The role sits within the in-house technology team and covers the firm's networks, virtualised environments and cloud platforms, working closely with the IT, operations and business teams who depend on them.

The successful candidate will have 10+ years' experience in network and infrastructure engineering, with strong, practical knowledge of Cisco networking and Fortinet security. Hands-on experience with VMware, Kubernetes and AWS is essential, along with working knowledge of infrastructure automation using Terraform and Ansible. Experience taking over or overseeing a managed service provider relationship would be a clear advantage.

The team is looking for a senior engineer who can bring real-world experience, support colleagues and take ownership of projects from design through to delivery. You will be expected to shape the firm's infrastructure direction, setting standards and holding the managed service provider to them.

Technical ability is only part of the picture. The firm wants someone curious and proactive, who engages with stakeholders to understand the underlying problem rather than simply building what has been requested, and who has the judgement to reshape a request when needed.
