A leading global asset manager is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to join its infrastructure team. This is a broad and varied role covering the design, build, operation, and automation of enterprise WAN, LAN, and voice networks across a global estate.
The successful candidate will work across core networking, campus and branch infrastructure, SD-WAN, voice platforms, and cloud connectivity. They will also play a key part in improving operational efficiency through automation, infrastructure-as-code, and modern DevOps practices.
What the role involves
- Design, deploy, support, and optimise enterprise WAN and LAN infrastructure across global offices and data centres.
- Work with routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, QoS, and VPNs.
- Build and maintain SD-WAN, internet breakout, cloud connectivity, and secure remote-access solutions.
- Support enterprise voice and collaboration platforms, including SIP, unified communications, contact-centre technologies, and voice network design.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across network, security, voice, and application-delivery layers.
- Contribute to network architecture, capacity planning, resilience, and lifecycle-refresh projects.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python, APIs, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tooling.
- Work with monitoring and observability platforms to improve visibility, alerting, and incident response.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams in an Agile, DevOps-led environment.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and support business-critical systems where required.
What we are looking for
- Strong enterprise networking experience across WAN, LAN, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Solid knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VPNs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, and network security principles.
- Experience with SD-WAN, cloud networking, or multi-site enterprise environments.
- Exposure to enterprise voice, SIP, unified communications, or contact-centre platforms.
- A genuine interest in automation and DevOps, with skills in Python and/or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent technologies.
- Cisco Meraki, Cisco Catalyst/SD-WAN, or similar platforms.
- Microsoft Teams Voice, Zoom Phone, Avaya, Genesys, or other enterprise voice platforms.
- CI/CD, Git, Linux, and container-based tooling.
- Financial services, asset management, or other regulated-environment experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Network Engineer who wants genuine variety across WAN, LAN, voice, security, and cloud, while developing automation and DevOps capabilities. The successful candidate will join a collaborative engineering team with real ownership of critical infrastructure and the opportunity to influence how the network estate evolves.
