Job summary

ODIN Recruitment Group Limited is seeking a Senior Motor Rewinder in the Greater London area for a full-time, permanent role. You will own jobs from initial inspection through to repair and testing, including diagnosing faults and rewinding to original specifications with careful data recording.

This hands-on position requires substantial motor rewinding experience, a strong technical understanding, and the ability to make sound technical and commercial decisions within required turnaround times.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on motor rewinding experience in an industrial or repair workshop.
• Strong knowledge of single-phase and three-phase AC motors; DC motor experience desirable.
• Ability to independently strip, inspect, diagnose, rewind, assemble and test motors.
• Experience estimating labour, materials and repair costs.
• Understanding of winding data, electrical specifications and testing procedures.
• Methodical fault-finding and problem-solving approach.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and explain recommendations.
• Proactive attitude with good time management and supervision-free work.
• Commitment to quality, safety and delivering work on time.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Strip, inspect and diagnose AC and DC motors from fractional horsepower units to larger industrial motors.
• Rewind motors to original specifications and record winding data.
• Assess repair requirements and estimate labour, materials and processes.
• Provide accurate technical assessments and repair estimates for customer quotations.
• Carry out electrical testing before and after repair (insulation resistance, winding resistance, surge tests, run tests).
• Identify faults and determine underlying causes of motor failure.
• Advise whether repair or replacement is more economical.
• Prioritise work to meet turnaround times for urgent breakdowns and planned repairs.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and workshop organisation.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and customers regarding faults and timelines.
• Support less experienced colleagues and share knowledge when required.
