Placements24 is partnering with a prominent mining client in Randburg, Gauteng to recruit a Senior Mining Operations Manager. The role centers on optimizing production, safety, and cost control across both underground and open-pit operations, with a focus on sustainable resource extraction.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, implement continuous improvement initiatives, manage budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mine operations management with focus on production and safety.
• Experience managing both underground and open-pit mining operations.
• Knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and best practices.
• Proven leadership skills to motivate and manage diverse teams.
• Strong understanding of mine safety regulations and environmental compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.
• Experience with mine planning software and production reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day mining operations to meet production targets safely and efficiently.
• Develop and implement strategies to maximise resource recovery and minimise costs.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Lead mine supervisors, engineers, and frontline staff.
• Monitor performance using key metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with geological, engineering, and maintenance teams for integrated planning.
• Manage operational budgets and capex proposals.
• Conduct site visits to identify risks and opportunities.
• Report performance and provide actionable insights to senior management.
