Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Mining Engineer for a Randburg, Gauteng-based mining operation. The role focuses on operational improvement and efficiency, analyzing current operations, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing strategies to optimize methods and sequencing.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage planning, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with the operations team to deliver cost reductions and productivity gains on a major mining project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years' mining operations experience focused on optimization.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac for planning and design.

Responsibilities

• Analyze mining operations to identify areas for improvement in productivity, cost, and safety.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize mining methods, equipment utilization, and production sequencing.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed operational changes.
• Oversee the planning and execution of short-term and medium-term mine plans.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Work closely with mine operations personnel to implement best practices and provide technical support.
• Utilize mine planning software to model and evaluate different operational scenarios.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational performance.
• Mentor junior mining engineers and contribute to team development.
• Assist in the development and management of the operational budget.
