Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Health and Safety Officer to support mining operations across multiple sites with a focus on Randburg-based management. The role ensures compliance with South African mining health and safety legislation, promotes a strong safety culture, and minimizes workplace risks in a remote work environment.

You will conduct remote audits, develop safety programs, and guide site-based safety representatives.

Qualifications

• Must have strong knowledge of health and safety management systems.
• Experience auditing risk controls and incident investigations in mining.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver safety training materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor H&S management systems for mining operations.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and identify hazards across mine sites.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses with detailed reports and corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with relevant mining health and safety legislation (MHSA).
• Provide expert advice and support to site management and safety committees.
