Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join the Mine Engineering & Stability Team in the UK. You will lead mining studies from concept to completion, advise on development paths and optimization strategies, and work with multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver robust project economics.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and client‑facing capabilities, with travel and flexible office/home balance across the UK. A strong background in mining software and consulting is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or similar is required.
• Strong proficiency in mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) and related mining tools is essential.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities are highly valued.
• Excellent communication and analytical problem‑solving skills are necessary.
• Consulting experience will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead mining studies and projects from conception to completion across the life cycle.
• Provide advice on mining methods, development paths, life of mine planning, and optimisation strategies to clients.
• Develop cost models and perform financial analyses from options studies to project economics.
• Support due diligence reviews for mergers, acquisitions, or project finance with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Interface between mine advisory disciplines and capital projects, asset management and environmental groups.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required to support project work.
• Provide safety leadership by identifying and mitigating high priority hazards.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
