Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join the Mine Engineering & Stability Team. You’ll lead mining studies through all project stages and provide expert input on methods, development paths, and optimization strategies.

You will develop cost models, perform financial analyses, and support due diligence for transactions, while mentoring junior engineers and liaising with geotechnical, water, and environmental groups. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or similar.
• Proven experience in mining roles with leadership abilities.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and communicating clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead mining studies from conception to completion across the lifecycle.
• Advise on mining methods, development paths, and optimization strategies.
• Develop cost models and financial analyses from options studies to economics.
• Support due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, or project finance.
• Coordinate between geotechnical, water, tailings, closure and other teams.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required for project work.
• Provide safety leadership and mentor junior engineers.
