Gravitas Group's client, a leading global insurer, is seeking a Middle Market Underwriter to join the UK Commercial Lines team in London. You will assess and bind risks, price coverage, and manage renewals for mid-sized accounts.

The role focuses on real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology and life sciences, with broker relationships and a strong emphasis on profitability and risk governance.

Qualifications

• At least 3+ years of P&C underwriting experience.
• Experience in middle market underwriting, ideally multinational.
• Established relationships with retail producers.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.

Responsibilities

• Prioritization and evaluation of existing business and renewals to identify opportunities for profit.
• Price and analyze coverage, structure and exposures on individual risks.
• Set terms and conditions per underwriting strategy to bind qualified risks.
• Attend client/broker meetings and related events.
• Exercise pricing discipline to meet profitability goals and comply with guidelines.
• Expand portfolio by developing relationships and new prospective clients.
• Support a strong customer relationship ethos with governance and risk management.
• Conduct underwriting audits as needed.

Our client a leading global Insurer is looking to add a newMiddle Market Underwriter, in theirUK Commercial Lines team.

The Middle Market Underwriting team offers diverse multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals such as real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology, and life science. What you’ll be doing:

• Prioritization and evaluation of existing business and renewals to identify those accounts that provide the greatest opportunity for profit consistent with the business plan and corporate profit objectives.
• Price and analyze coverage, structure and exposures on individual risks.
• Set appropriate terms and conditions per the Company underwriting strategy and guidelines to bind qualified risks.
• Attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social outings as applicable.
• Exercise proper underwriting pricing and discipline to meet profitability goals, complying with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures.
• Expand existing portfolio of business by developing existing relationships and new prospective clients.
• Supports our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture.
• Emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite.
• Conducts individual account underwriting audits as needed.
• Complete underwriting referral applications for risks outside of your authority for higher level approval as necessary.

What you’ll bring:

• At least 3+ years of P&C underwriting experience.
• Significant experience within the middle market space, ideally with experience of Underwriting multinational business.
• Established relationships with retail producers.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills.
