Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 7 Senior Microbiologist to join the busy Microbiology laboratory at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The role includes leading training and workforce development, supervising routine and specialised diagnostic work, and working closely with managers and external stakeholders to improve services.

Applicants should be HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientists with at least 5 years NHS Microbiology experience and proven leadership,

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist with NHS microbiology experience.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and staff development experience.
• Experience coordinating training and service development in a microbiology lab.

Responsibilities

• Supervise routine and specialised diagnostic investigations on infectious samples.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations of the lab sections to ensure safe, timely results.
• Address non-conformances and work with Quality Manager on improvements.
