Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Gloucestershire is seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join the busy NHS Microbiology training laboratory at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. You will work across sections, participate in weekend and on-call rotas, and receive full training and support relevant to your level of experience.

Candidates must be HCPC registered, with post-registration experience in microbiology, and possess a BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification.
• HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist in good standing.
• Post-registration experience in NHS Microbiology.
• Understanding of quality control, COSHH and safety policies.
• Ability to work across multiple microbiology sections.

Responsibilities

• Prepare biomedical specimens and materials per SOPs.
• Analyse samples using standard microbiology techniques.
• Record patient data accurately in IPS system.
• Interpret results and generate clinical reports.
• Maintain equipment and participate in QC/QA activities.
• Support service users and participate in rotas.
