Job summary

The Sheffield College is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Workshop Technician to lead a busy mechanical workshop, ensure a safe and productive learning environment, and support teaching staff with machines, tools and materials for practical sessions. Ideal candidates will have extensive workshop experience, proficiency with manual and CNC machinery, and a background in supervising learners.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mechanical engineering workshop or manufacturing setting.
• Able to operate and set manual lathes and milling machines.
• Experience with CNC lathes and machining centres.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, organised workshop for teaching and assessment.
• Prepare, set up and maintain workshop tooling, materials and equipment.
• Operate and maintain workshop machinery including manual and CNC tools.
• Produce teaching aids, fixtures and components for curriculum delivery.
