Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Manager at Royal Stoke University Hospital to lead a skilled engineering team and oversee maintenance across a complex healthcare estate. The role focuses on safety, compliance, and high-quality service delivery.

You will drive lifecycle projects, manage contractors, and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure reliable facilities support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, health & safety regulations and engineering standards.
• Experience leading, motivating and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing guidance, support and performance management.
• Oversee planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the hospital estate.
• Ensure all mechanical systems and equipment are maintained safely, efficiently and in line with statutory compliance.
• Manage specialist contractors and service providers, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
• Monitor compliance, audits and inspections with accurate maintenance and safety records.
• Support and deliver engineering projects, refurbishments and lifecycle replacement programmes.
• Develop strong relationships with clinical teams, stakeholders and the estates department.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance service performance, reliability, safety and value for money.

Education

Mechanical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or Degree or equivalent)
