Job summary

Babcock invites applications for a Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site, Plymouth. You will contribute to the Submarine Defuel Delivery Project by designing and delivering mechanical handling and defuel tooling systems, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

You will work with the Design Manager and project teams to produce robust design solutions, manage documentation, and support risk assessments while travelling monthly to HMNB Devonport and

Qualifications

• Experience designing mechanical handling systems and lifting equipment.
• Regulated industry experience (nuclear/defence) preferred.
• Strong grasp of safety and quality standards in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical handling and defuel tooling activities to scope, schedule, cost and quality.
• Update design documentation to as-built status.
• Ensure adherence to QMS and engineering standards.
• Support configuration management and maintain project records.
• Promote safe working practices and communicate engineering risks.
