Job summary

Babcock, at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical handling and dockside design packages and to deliver high-stakes infrastructure projects.

You will provide technical leadership across teams, own work packages from concept through delivery, and ensure safe, compliant solutions in a highly regulated environment. Hybrid working with 3 onsite days is available.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex engineering projects involving cranes, mechanical handling systems and infrastructure.
• Experience delivering mechanical and electrical integration activities across multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience in highly regulated industries such as defence, nuclear, marine or heavy engineering.

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of multidisciplinary mechanical handling and dockside engineering design packages.
• Managing technical requirements, risks, interfaces and engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Reviewing and verifying calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation to ensure fitness for purpose.
• Driving design reviews and engineering best practices to achieve safe, cost-effective solutions.
• Mentoring engineers and coordinating suppliers, stakeholders and project teams to achieve successful outcomes.
