Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth. The role involves designing temporary mechanical equipment interfacing with submarine reactor systems, and contributing to the lifecycle from concept to implementation.

You will work in a regulated environment on projects supporting Royal Navy submarines, with hybrid working arrangements and a strong focus on safety, standards compliance, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with CAD, engineering analysis or fluid systems design.
• Understanding of regulations and standards in a regulated industry.

Responsibilities

• Producing engineering designs, technical documentation and assessments to support complex engineering projects.
• Developing mechanical engineering solutions throughout the design lifecycle, from concept through to implementation.
• Providing technical advice and guidance to ensure compliance with engineering standards, legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting design reviews, hazard studies and engineering analysis activities.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality outputs to programme schedules and budgets.
