Job summary

Lennard Business Services is assisting a leading mining engineering client in Scotland with a permanent opportunity for a mechanical fitter who will also take a supervisory role in the Maintenance / Mechanical team. Core hours are Mon-Fri 07:00-15:30 with overtime available, and accommodation can be provided locally for the first three months.

Qualifications

• Experience as a mechanical fitter in mining or heavy industry.
• Supervisory role within a maintenance/ mechanical team.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mobile and fixed plant.
• Fabrication / welding / steelwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and inspections on vehicles, mobile plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Repair components to maintain safety and reliability of equipment.
• Demonstrate proficiency on mobile plant and fixed plant; welding skills.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns; support field recovery when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and manage tools and lifting gear.
• Record activities in maintenance systems and keep logs up to date.
• Identify spare parts and assist with stock control and procurement.
• Collaborate with supervisors and operators; mentor junior technicians.
