Job summary

Market 36 Recruitment Ltd are currently recruiting for an Estimator / Cost Engineer on behalf of our client based in Alton on a permanent basis. You will review technical drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates, calculate project costs for materials, labour, equipment and subcontractors, and manage the end-to-end tendering process.

You will liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams to secure competitive pricing and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years purchasing experience in engineering/manufacturing.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of costing methodologies and materials.
• Strong commercial awareness and numerical skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Independent worker and team player.

Responsibilities

• Review technical engineering drawings and prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Calculate project costs including materials, labour, equipment and subcontractors.
• Manage end-to-end tendering process: bid prep, proposals, submission.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments for pricing and delivery times.
• Support sourcing and purchasing of components.
• Monitor expenditure and forecast production capacity to improve cost efficiency.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing.
• Plan and manage workload to meet deadlines and project requirements.
