OCU Group invites applications for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design work in our water and wastewater practice. Based in Bridgend, this permanent, full-time role offers excitement across UK projects with international collaboration.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, develop robust designs to meet UK standards, and ensure delivery on time and budget while maintaining safety and quality across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (IMechE) or near completion.
• Water and/or wastewater design experience in the UK.
• Strong knowledge of water sector infrastructure, WIMES, UK codes and asset standards.
• Experience collaborating with contractors to implement engineering solutions.
• Excellent communication skills; able to work independently and in teams.
• Motivated, organised and committed to technical excellence.
• Willing to travel to project sites or client offices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally to deliver water and wastewater projects.
• Lead and contribute to projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Provide guidance on design deliverables, calculations, drawings and reports.
• Ensure quality and safe design per UK and international standards.
• Communicate solutions to clients, contractors, and colleagues via presentations and reviews.
• Engage with clients and construction teams on Design & Build projects.
• Assess existing infrastructure to develop mechanical designs for upgrades.
• Support CDM compliance; produce design and environmental risk assessments.
