Job summary

Kinectrics in the UK, based in Altrincham, is seeking a Senior Engineer (Mechanical) to lead the design, fabrication, and testing of complex mechanical systems for nuclear and fusion projects. You will act as technical lead, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with nuclear quality programs and safety standards.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in mechanical design, strong leadership, expertise with CAD (SolidWorks) and FEA, and the ability to work across client interfaces

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in design, fabrication, testing, or project execution.
• Experience in nuclear and/or fusion industry is a plus.
• Experience as technical lead / accountable engineer for mechanical work packages.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to obtain nuclear site security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior mechanical engineering leadership for design, fabrication, procurement, integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of nuclear equipment and process systems.
• Lead technical reviews, design risk assessments, and supplier document reviews.
• Interface with clients, utilities, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear quality programs and safety requirements.
