Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom is seeking Senior and Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to lead design activities on diverse, technically challenging projects across the nuclear sector. You will guide teams through concept, feasibility and detailed design while ensuring safety, quality and efficiency.

You will apply CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor and Siemens NX, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to deliver practical, innovative solutions across the asset

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Mechanical Design Engineering within nuclear, defence or other highly regulated environments.
• Strong capability in CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor and Siemens NX.
• Experience designing mechanical equipment like handling systems, machinery or tooling.
• Structured approach to engineering design and project delivery.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with practical delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities for complex projects across the lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Contribute to bids, planning and design reviews.
• Provide clear technical input to proposals and schedules.
