Job summary

Advantage Resourcing UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in the Huddersfield area. The role encompasses leading a small, experienced team and delivering detailed design for manufacture across heavy industry projects.

You will perform hand calculations, CAD work (3D/2D) using Solid Edge, and prepare technical manuals and installation documents. Hybrid-based work and permanent/contract options are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing mechanical components for heavy industry.
• Knowledge of quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001).

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design for manufacture and CAD activities (3D/2D).
• Perform hand calculations and preliminary sizing of components.
• Create deliverable documentation including manuals, installation and maintenance instructions.
• Concession/non-conformance assessment and resolution.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineers (Perm or contract) Certain Advantage is hiring for SeniorMechanical Design Engineers based in the Huddersfield area. Those roles are on a permanent basis &contract basis and are hybrid-based.

The Role:

This role is for Senior Mechanical Design Engineers—someone ambitious and ready to make an impact. You’ll be results-oriented and driven to succeed. You’ll be leading a small, experienced, and collaborative team, and be responsible for:

• Detailed design for manufacture
• Hand calculations and preliminary sizing of components, including material selection.
• CAD activities including conceptual design, 3D and 2D modelling.
• Create deliverable documentation including Manuals, Installation and Maintenance instructions as necessary
• Concession/Non-conformance assessment and resolution.

The Individual

We’re looking for people who can show:

• Structural design practices and methodologies, including hand calculations to support design.
• Designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gears, and gearboxes
• 3D CAD packages for both modelling and drawing, ideally Solid Edge
• Understanding and appreciation of structural analysis and knowledge of FEA/FEM (eg. ANSYS Workbench)
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
