Job summary

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a York-based specialist engineering business. You will lead the mechanical design lifecycle from concept to production, delivering robust solutions that meet customer requirements, quality standards and cost targets.

You will use SolidWorks / 3D CAD to create components and assemblies, produce detailed drawings, select materials and support prototype builds, testing and improvements within a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong SolidWorks / 3D CAD experience.
• Good knowledge of advanced mechanical design principles.
• Experience taking projects from concept through to completion.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A proactive, practical 'can-do' attitude.

Responsibilities

• Designing mechanical components, assemblies and modular systems using SolidWorks / 3D CAD.
• Taking ownership of designs from concept, modelling and development through to testing and commissioning.
• Producing detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Selecting appropriate materials and considering tolerances, thermal performance, fatigue, vibration and shock.
• Supporting prototype builds, testing and product improvements.
• Investigating technical issues and developing practical engineering solutions.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and technical functions.
• Contributing to design reviews and technical discussions.
• Managing several projects and ensuring work is delivered on time and to specification.
• Researching technical topics and producing reports and recommendations.

• Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum
• Bonus: Up to 8%
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week, days

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are working with a successful and growing specialist engineering business in York to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a newly created position.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and highly skilled Engineering team within a growing specialist manufacturing business.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the full engineering lifecycle, taking projects from initial concept and design through to development, testing and final production.

You’ll be responsible for developing robust mechanical solutions that meet customer requirements, quality standards, cost targets, safety requirements and performance specifications.

The role will involve:

• Designing mechanical components, assemblies and modular systems using SolidWorks / 3D CAD
