Job summary

Elizabeth Michael Associates LTD is seeking a Senior Technical Design Engineer to join their Nottinghamshire-based design team. The role blends mechanical design with electrical systems, controls and technical design, with ownership from concept through to manufacture and testing.

You will develop 3D models, drawings and BOMs while supporting R&D, bespoke customer solutions and new product development in water management tech. Strong collaboration and multi-project delivery are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years in a technical engineering/design role.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Good understanding of electrical systems, controls and technical design.
• Experience with 2D drawings and BOMs.
• Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and control schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and practical engineering skills.
• Proactive, self-motivated and ownership mindset.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe packages.

Responsibilities

• Support the Design Team Leader with day-to-day running of the Design and Technical team.
• Take ownership of mechanical and electrical design activities from concept through to manufacture and testing.
• Produce and review 3D models, engineering drawings, schematics and BOMs.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Operations, Engineering and Production.
• Support R&D, new product development and bespoke customer solutions.
• Review technical drawings, manuals and engineering documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the Design Team.
• Act as a key point of contact for technical queries across the business.
• Support engineering problem-solving, fault-finding and practical testing.
• Maintain and improve engineering parts, BOMs and product structures.
• Support and mentor other members of the technical team where required.
