Job summary

QinetiQ in Malvern is seeking a Mechanical Design Team Lead to manage a team of engineers and deliver complex mechanical design solutions. You will operate as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, ensuring technical governance, customer engagement and strong leadership across projects.

The role requires deep design expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to balance technical authority with team development in a defence/industrial context.

Qualifications

• Robust understanding of Mechanical Design Engineering and its application to product development.
• Lead/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer on complex equipment development programmes.
• Experience with engineering toolsets for managing complex systems developments.

Responsibilities

• Advising on suitable deployments for the team with stakeholders.
• Communicating policy and actions, eliciting feedback and escalating when needed.
• Managing team strategy and alignment with internal customers and stakeholders.
• Tracking individuals’ goals, performance and calibration activities.
• Mentoring, peer reviews and advising on professional best practices.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, integration and cultural leadership.
