Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking a Mechanical Design Team Lead at Malvern to lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers and deliver complex engineering solutions in a defence context.

You will provide technical governance, mentor engineers, and engage with customers while balancing technical authority with leadership responsibilities across multiple projects. The role is a permanent, full-time position at our Malvern site.

Qualifications

• Robust understanding of Mechanical Design Engineering in product development.
• Lead/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer on complex programmes.
• Knowledge of engineering toolsets for complex systems developments.
• Applying Mechanical Design Engineering from 1st principles with Technical Excellence.
• Strong mentoring and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advising on suitable deployments for your team and engaging with stakeholders.
• Communicating policy, eliciting feedback and escalating actions as needed.
• Managing team strategy and alignment with internal customers and stakeholders.
• Tracking goals, performance, and conducting regular feedback.
• Mentoring, peer reviews, and advising on best practice.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, integration, inclusion and cultural leadership.
