Job summary

QinetiQ Limited is seeking a Mechanical Design Team Lead at our Malvern site. You will lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers and act as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer delivering complex engineering solutions with strong governance and customer engagement.

You will apply broad experience in mechanical design artefacts for product development in defence contexts, assimilating programme insights and business context to guide future needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading Mechanical Design Engineers on complex equipment development programmes.
• Strong ability to apply mechanical design from first principles within Technical Excellence frameworks.
• Proven mentoring, listening and coaching with good communication across teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advising on suitable deployments for the team with stakeholders.
• Communicating policy, eliciting feedback and escalating actions as needed.
• Managing team strategy, alignment with internal customers and succession planning.
• Tracking individual goals and conducting regular performance reviews and calibration.
• Mentoring and conducting peer reviews, guiding best practice.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding and cultural leadership.
