Job summary

Ethos is seeking a Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer in Birmingham to lead mechanical building services for hyperscale data centres across the EMEA region. You will own multiple projects from concept through client handover, building strong client relationships and mentoring engineering staff.

This role supports our growing UK hub, collaborates with the Dublin team, and ensures programme, budget and quality objectives are achieved in a dynamic, technology-driven consultancy environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Professional qualification required.
• Role senior in design team delivering data centre projects.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to lead projects and manage briefs from project lead.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and workload of team members to optimise productivity.
• Guide decision-making with extensive discipline knowledge.
• Develop strong client relationships to deliver tailored solutions.
• Understand contract terms to control scope creep and protect project integrity.
• Delegate tasks to maximise value and team engagement.
• Report progress to Group Management Team for transparency.
• Maintain quality control across projects to meet standards.
• Engage in resource management for efficient delivery.
• Promote positive internal and external messaging about the team.
