Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead major UK Water and Wastewater schemes. Location is UK-wide with hybrid to a local office (up to 4 days from home) and occasional travel, dependent on experience.

You will deliver designs across the full life cycle, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring mechanical solutions are practical and compliant. The role offers technical leadership on projects and close involvement with AMP-related activity.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering projects through the full design life cycle.
• Previous UK Water or Wastewater sector experience.
• Experience using 3D design tools and engineering software.
• Ability to take technical responsibility for smaller projects and work packages.
• Experience designing water infrastructure (treatment works, pumping stations, reservoirs).

Responsibilities

• Deliver feasibility, outline, detailed and final mechanical design work.
• Review mechanical designs, technical specifications, proposals and submissions.
• Take technical responsibility for smaller projects, work packages and individual design tasks.
• Support key design reviews for AMP projects.
• Work on Water treatment works, Wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, reservoirs and related water infrastructure.
• Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Support projects from concept to delivery.
