Job summary

Ashbys Consulting in Central London seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer on the client side to lead a small team of internal designers and coordinate with external consultancies. You will manage the mechanical services design from concept through to completion on major office developments, ensuring quality and compliance.

The role requires at least 8 years in building services, experience delivering projects in Central London, and familiarity with CIBSE standards and BIM coordination.

Central London

A leading engineering contractor are looking for a lead Mechanical Design Engineer to manage a small team of internal Design Engineers and manage external design consultancies. This internationally recognised contractor have a first class reputation within the industry for delivering well renowned commercial office developments in Central London with first class accreditations. This contractor currently do not have a design management team and are therefore wanting to expand into this sector to improve efficiency and quality.

Within this role you will be responsible for the below:

• Managing the mechanical services design from concept to completion


• Managing tenders from consultants, reviewing the content, advising to the Project Director.


• Work with internal MEP Coordinators and installation teams to ensure services are installed to correct standards and specification


• Working with the BIM Manager on any issues at early stages of projects


• Managing an internal team of Design Engineers who carry out small works design, when it is not commercially viable to use external resource.

For this role you will need to have the below experience:

• At least 8 years experience within a Building Services Consultancy or Design and Build Contractor


• Experience managing projects from inception to completion


• Experience working on projects in Central London


• Experience working to CIBSE standards


• Have experience working alongside a BIM Manager.
