Job summary

Eaton Wimborne in Dorset is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Mechanical Design Engineering team, working on air‑to‑air refuelling and related systems across product lines. You will develop concepts, perform stress analyses, and ensure drawings meet technical standards and lifecycle processes, while supporting production, suppliers and junior staff.

This role requires a good engineering degree and at least five years in aerospace design; UK work authorization and ITAR

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in an engineering design and development role, preferably in aerospace.
• Experience with CAD packages CREO, Catia or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Produce concept designs to meet customer requirements within timescales and budgets.
• Perform stress, performance and tolerancing calculations.
• Use Six-Sigma and DFM tools to optimise concepts.
• Present design solutions to peers and customers.
• Support manufacturing by addressing supplier technical inquiries.
• Contribute to design and project reviews.
• Provide status updates in team meetings.
• Ensure drawings comply with Eaton design standards and lifecycle processes.
• Mentor junior design engineers.
