What are we looking for

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our mechanical design team, reporting directly to the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.

Responsibilities

1. Represent the mechanical team at design reviews.
2. Assist in developing the mechanical systems and processes with the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer and Product Design Manager.
3. Design plant layouts, including parts, assemblies, GA drawings, and customer deliverables.
4. Work with containerised products, pipework, pressure vessels, pumps, valves, and other process equipment.
5. Mentor Mechanical Design Engineers and Junior Design Engineers.
6. Check and approve drawings produced by team members, ensuring accuracy and data management.

About You

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience delivering design, plant layout, and documentation for multiple projects.
• Proficient with SolidWorks, including PDM Vault and automated workflows.
• Strong knowledge of parametric modelling, BOM structures, and part numbering.
• Ability to produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, including GD&T.
• Experience designing pipework, pressure vessels, and process equipment.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 8 years post-grad experience.
• Leadership skills to coach junior engineers and manage resources.
• Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and FMEA skills.
• Knowledge of business management systems, change control, and non-conformance processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Time management and prioritisation abilities.
• Understanding of pressure equipment, PED & ATEX directives, and safety standards.

Highly advantageous

• Knowledge of pressure vessels, machinery directive, stress analysis, FEA, ATEX, and ISO/ASME codes.
• Experience in chemical, petrochemical, or hydrocarbon industries.
