Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Type: Permanent

Location: Huddersfield

My client is a specialist manufacturer of large metalwork & machinery. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Huddersfield on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

1. Good knowledge of machinery design
2. Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
3. At least 7 years’ experience in a similar Senior Mechanical Design Engineering position
4. Chartered Status or working towards it
5. Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials – sheet metal, castings, machining etc.
6. Excellent proficiency with CAD software – ideally SolidWorks
7. Experience in a heavy, technical engineering industry would be ideal
8. Proven ability to drive engineering development
9. Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
10. The ability to understand system requirements
11. Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
12. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

1. Using SolidWorks for concept design and producing technical drawings
2. Designing large machinery and structures
3. Liaising with manufacturing providers
4. Being involved in final assembly of products, Stress & FEA testing
5. Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
6. Updating 3D models and drawings
7. Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
8. Checking drawings for sign off
9. Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
