Anderselite are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work on various water treatment projects in the Severn Trent region.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design process for water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop detailed mechanical designs including 3D models, schedules, equipment layouts, specifications, and calculations for pumps, pipelines, tanks, valves, and filtration systems.
- Ensure designs comply with industry regulations, standards (including HSE and environmental regulations), and client specifications, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, EICA, and process) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Review and approve technical design documents, including drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and reports.
- Conduct technical reviews and design audits to ensure quality and standards adherence.
- Provide leadership during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases, supporting system functionality and safety.
- Manage project risks related to mechanical design, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering professional development.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators to meet project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Stay updated with latest developments in mechanical engineering, materials, and technologies.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and sustainability initiatives to optimize project outcomes.
Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in water/wastewater industry.
- Proven experience with water and wastewater treatment projects within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment such as pumps, piping, valves, blowers, and filtration systems.
- Understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations (HSE, environmental).
- Experience in system commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.
- Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
- Master's degree in Electrical, Control, or Automation Engineering is desirable.
- Familiarity with BIM and digital design tools.
- Experience with sustainable design and life-cycle cost analysis.
