Our client has been established for more than 20 years and is recognized as a market leader in providing bespoke innovative materials handling and automation solutions across various industry sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued success and strategic growth, they are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team.

Role Overview

Based near Nottingham, the successful candidate will work within the Design team, thriving in a technology-focused environment. You will be responsible for creating innovative solutions for a range of clients, involving problem-solving and transforming data into concepts that meet client needs in industries such as Parcel, Ecommerce, Manufacturing, and Robotics.

Core Responsibilities

1. Understanding client requirements and developing solutions considering opportunities and challenges.
2. Developing design criteria, metrics, and material flow diagrams.
3. Identifying technical and safety risks and proposing mitigation solutions.
4. Reviewing operational processes and KPIs, assessing business case justifications like ROI.
5. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions.
6. Presenting concepts clearly to clients and colleagues to influence decisions.
7. Understanding WCS functionality and collaborating with the software team.
8. Supporting design development with test specifications and contract documents.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in bespoke machine design, material handling, and robotics. A degree in Mechanical Engineering is advantageous but not essential. You should have at least 5 years of experience in a senior design role within material handling systems, proficiency in SolidWorks, and experience with logistics and supply chain solutions. Advanced skills in MS Office are also expected.
