Job Description:

Our client, a company specializing in designing and manufacturing products for the Marine Industry, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Cornwall on a permanent basis.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Engineering Design, or similar
• 8+ years of industry experience, preferably in a similar design/development role within manufacturing
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software
• Product development experience is advantageous but not essential
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design and engineering principles
• Understanding of materials such as sheet metal, castings, and plastics
• Innovative, passionate about design, with excellent leadership and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate within the Research & Development team
• Provide technical guidance and support
• Use SolidWorks for daily design tasks
• Create manufacturing drawings and BOMs
• Conduct design analysis and FEA when needed
• Lead full lifecycle projects from concept to launch
• Develop new and existing products
• Complete design specifications and risk assessments (FMEA)
• Generate prototypes and perform testing
• Liaise with customers and suppliers
