Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Stafford

A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join an engineering team working on the design and development of light helicopters for the global market. The company designs, develops, and manufactures their products in the UK. With extensive financial backing and a growing order book, they are seeking to expand their engineering team. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of various aircraft parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of aircraft parts and assemblies.
• Design and develop systems such as landing gear, flight controls, cabin seating, engine installations, or rotor systems.
• Carry out concept development for mechanical systems.
• Use hand calculations, simulation methods, modelling tools, and CAE tools to size, analyze, and optimize system elements.
• Design mechanical systems using 3D CAD.
• Develop part and system testing plans.
• Support in-house prototype build.

Requirements

• BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or HNC/HND with equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in mechanical design, analysis, and development.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modelling of parts and assemblies.
• Skilled in engineering calculations and simulation software (e.g., Mathcad, ANSYS).
• Experience in developing mechanical systems from concept to implementation.
